Logging in and assistance with CareerConnect

Current students (Undergraduate, Masters and PhD)

You will have access from the first day of your course at The University of Manchester (usually the first day of the autumn term, 24-48 hours after you have completed all stages of student registration).

You will need your standard University of Manchester 'single sign-on' username and password to access your account. If you don't know your University of Manchester username or are having problems with your password, please visit https://www.itservices.manchester.ac.uk/help.

Duo 2 factor authentication is in place on CareerConnect. By having this we’ll be improving our quality of service, and our security measures.

If you use the Duo Mobile app already on a smartphone or tablet, you’ll receive a push notification when logging in. You will need to respond by entering a three-digit verification code into the Duo Mobile app. This code will be shown on the screen of the computer/device you are using to log in. To install Duo or for more information, please head to the duo website

About to finish your course?

If your course is due to end / has ended recently, continue to use the 'Student sign in' option up until the point where you receive a 'permission denied' error message after entering your details. At this point you'll be able to register a new password for your account using the 'Alumni sign in' option as explained below. To maintain your account when you graduate it is a good idea to update the email in your profile to a non student one while you are a student.

However, if you receive a 'permisison denied' error message but are still currently enrolled as an eligible student, please contact the CareerConnect support team Please include your student ID number in your email.

University of Manchester Schemes

In CareerConnect you will see a tab entitled “UoM Schemes. These opportunities include a variety of schemes that the Careers Service is either wholly responsible for, or is managing on behalf of a recruiter. In other words, managing the recruitment process on behalf of a recruiting manager or organisation.

For example, Managed Opportunities includes the Student Experience Internship (SEI) and our Manchester Graduate Talent (MGT) programme, both are schemes which the Careers Service runs, hence we are managing the recruitment process on behalf of the recruiting managers which includes collecting applications on their behalf. Within UoM Schemes you will also see some one year industrial placement opportunities being advertised and MGT roles for external businesses and recruiters; these organisations have asked us to help them manage their recruitment process and hence we will collect applications via the CareerConnect platform and provide further recruitment assistance to help them recruit a UoM student or graduate.
